Sant Medir 2026

The legend of Sant Medir dates back to the early 4th century. According to tradition, Medir was a farmer who lived near Barcelona, in the area now known as Sant Cugat del Vallès. He was arrested for helping the Bishop of Barcelona, Saint Sever, escape Roman persecution against Christians. Barcelona celebrates the Festa de Sant Medir on March 3 in several neighborhoods of the city, especially in Gràcia. Known as the candy festival, this event draws crowds with horse and float processions distributing around six tons of sweets. It is a unique family festival marked by joy and indulgence.
