How to get to the Sagrada Família?

All roads lead to the basilica ;-) Rest assured, access is well indicated throughout the city, and it’s very easy to reach by public transport:

  • By metro: Metro lines 2 and 5 serve the basilica. The metro stop is “Sagrada Família” (right in front of the visitor entrance — individuals on the right and groups on the left).
  • By bus: Lines 19, 33, 34, D50, H10, and B24 will take you to the basilica, stops “Sagrada Família” and "Mallorca - Marina".
  • By tourist bus: The red line stops in front of the basilica.
  • By car: There are many private parking lots near the Sagrada Família, but the temple does not offer parking facilities.

Plan your visit

What is the best time to visit the Sagrada Família?

The Sagrada Família is one of the most visited monuments in Spain, alongside two other “temples” of Barcelona: the Camp Nou and the Parc Güell. It is recommended to buy your ticket in advance to avoid wasting time at the entrance. Once inside, the visit is always smooth due to the limited number of visitors.

How long does it take to visit?

It takes about 2 hours to visit, including the towers, the museum – located next to the crypt – and the shop. Note that once inside the basilica, you can stay as long as you wish!

How to avoid the queue?

Due to its popularity, this iconic monument of Barcelona and Gaudí’s work attracts a large number of visitors every day. It receives more than 4.5 million visitors per year on average. During peak tourist season, the waiting time to buy a ticket at the ticket office can range from 1 to 2 hours without any guarantee of entry, especially for groups. It is highly recommended to plan your visit in advance by purchasing your tickets online.

By purchasing a skip-the-line ticket

By choosing a skip-the-line ticket, you’ll avoid waiting in queues. You can choose from different types of tickets that all offer priority access to the basilica at a specific date and time slot. You may also opt for a combo ticket with another monument or the Barcelona City Pass, which is especially cost-effective if you're staying in Barcelona for several days. Tickets bought at the basilica's ticket office are more expensive due to additional processing fees — another good reason to buy your ticket in advance.

By booking a guided tour

Booking a guided tour of the Sagrada Família with an experienced guide also gives you priority access to the basilica. During peak times, guided tours are often the easiest way to secure an entry when all other options are sold out.

By choosing a specific time slot

By purchasing a skip-the-line ticket, you select a date and time for your visit, which guarantees your entry to the basilica without queuing. Please note that the number of visitors inside the monument is limited, ensuring a smooth visit. However, if you want to avoid crowds, consider visiting on a weekday (weekends are the most crowded days), and at opening time.

Free Sagrada Família

Everyone can attend the free Sunday morning mass at the Sagrada Família. It takes place from 9:00 to 10:00 AM and is conducted in multiple languages. It is recommended to arrive before 8:00 AM to try to get a seat.

Are there free entries to the Sagrada Família?

  • Entry is free for children under 11, but at least one adult ticket must be purchased at the same time. A maximum of two children under 11 may enter for free with the same accompanying adult.
  • People with disabilities (over 65%) and their companions are entitled to free entry. Please bring proof of your disability.
  • To facilitate young people's access to culture, the Basilica offers half-price tickets during certain times of the year. Entry costs €7 for youths aged 11 to 30, but it is only available at the ticket office on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

Sagrada Família Video 2026

The Sagrada Família will be finished the day Jesus tower is installed, the final stage of the construction work begun in 1882. This 3D video shows you the tower in 2026 if everything goes according to plan!

What to see at the Sagrada Familia?

The Basilica is worth visiting for its spectacular features: flamboyant stained glass windows, arborescent columns, apse, altar, crypt and Gaudí museum inside; 3 monumental facades and 18 vertiginous towers outside, some of which are open to the public. History, architecture, symbolism...
