He was arrested for helping the bishop of Barcelona, Saint Sever, to escape Roman persecution of the Christians. Barcelona celebrates the Festa de Sant Medir on 3 March in various parts of the city, including Gracia. Known as the festival of sweets, this event draws crowds with processions of horses and floats, distributing around six tonnes of sweets.
