Hello Illy, You're asking whether El Corte Inglés, a popular shopping mall in Barcelona, will be open tomorrow, Saturday, October 12th. Typically, El Corte Inglés follows regular shopping hours on Saturdays, but the specific date you've mentioned, October 12th, is Día de la Hispanidad (Spain's National Day), which is a public holiday. While many shops close on public holidays in Spain, El Corte Inglés in central locations like Plaça de Catalunya often remains open during such holidays, todya from 9am to 9pm. Best,

Hello CC, To travel from Sitges to Barcelona Airport (specifically Terminal 2), you can take a train but there is no direct train service. Here's how you can do it: Take the R2 Sud train from Sitges: This line runs directly to El Prat de Llobregat station. The train departs frequently from Sitges, and the trip to El Prat de Llobregat takes about 30-35 minutes. Transfer at El Prat de Llobregat: Once you arrive at this station, you need to switch to the R2 Nord train heading to Barcelona Airport (Aeroport T2). This is a short ride of around 6-7 minutes. The overall journey from Sitges to Terminal 2 at Barcelona Airport takes roughly 50-60 minutes, depending on wait times between connections. The trains are generally punctual and frequent, so it’s a convenient option. Best,

I found this to be one of the nicest experiences I had in Barcelona. The admission cost is extremely reasonable (especially compared to other local museums and attractions). The building is a place of great historical interest and of beauty, with the long stone vaults and wood ceilings. While the collection is not huge, I thought the exhibits, including ship models and drawings, small boats, and the spectacular Galley replica, were very nice (with placards in Spanish and English). Although not a bragging point for museums, it was also a lot less crowded than other places. I would highly recommend a visit.

Here is the official webpage with updated opening times and prices. Typical price is €5, but free on Sundays after 3p and only €2 if you're local and have your library card (which is free and takes about 10 minutes to get at your local public library).

It seemed very promising until we went to the counter and was told the entry was 7 euros per person not the 2.50 mentioned, AND the permanent exhibition, ie the things people come to see, we're closed. What a shame these websites don't provide current info.

We are planning a trip to Barcelona in October and after reading the posts on the Maritme Museum I called to find out if they now had English Guides or audio cassettes (Thank goodness for Skype).

The person who answered the phone spoke English well enough to explain to me that the museum is undergoing major renovations and at the present time (probably for the next 2 years) there are only a few exhibits, i.e. models and paintings that can be seen. None of the old Spanish Galleons etc. and therefore there are no audio cassettes or English guides available. They reduced the admission to 2,5 Euros.

We are still going to Barcelona but will not visit the museum--a real disappointment.

  10. Maritime Museum, Barcelona - David Calander (12 Oct 2009 - 17:45)

Well I'm sorry Alexander Agnew ( March 19th ) had such a bad experience here. We LOVED it. The buildings alone were worth the price of entry. - Very reasonable at about 5 euros - The staff were very courteous and helful and the exhibits were well presented and interesting.

The Royal Galley was SENSATIONAL !!

And both our audio systems worked well.

Go see it, if yo're there !

  11. Museum Maratim - Alexander Agnew (19 Mar 2009 - 09:30)

For the first time in Barcelona I was made to feel unwelcome. It was my first visit to this beautiful city. I had felt enraptured by every aspect of the city and it's culture. As an ex sailor in the Royal Navy (H.M. Submarines), I was so looking forward to exploring the museum and all it's exhibits. The staff were so unco-operative and rude that they spoiled the whole trip. Being deprived of any audio guide we had to rely on our ability to interpret Spanish as there were so few texts in English. My comment 'Shame on you'.
