Coastal Resorts in the Costa Dorada

At the south of Barcelona, the Costa Dorada is full of costal towns that are a total boiling of tourists services during the summer...

We give you some well known examples...

Salou - Town

Salou

Salou is without any doubt one of the best known places in the whole Costa Dorada, it is also known as "Beach of Europe".

Salou is a unique city on the coast of the Mediterranean. Its beaches, shallow and fine golden sand, ideal for children, their walks along the coast, the quality of accommodation, good food, are among the many proposals to be offered by the capital of this coast.

The magic in Salou it's offered throughout the year, both during the day and night, to enjoy such beautiful holidays with the family.

Salou

Salou

Salou is a totally modern resort, chock-a-block with high-rise hotels, bars and entertainment facilities all geared to satisfy the every whim of the international visitor. There are a huge number of pubs, clubs and discos along with a wide range of water sports and other leisure activities including golf, paragliding, hiking, cycling and horse riding. Nightlife in Salou is one of the liveliest of all the Spanish coastal resorts. Whether you want traditional flamenco, a Mexican meal, karaoke or all-night discos you'll find it all here.

Cambrils - Town

Cambrils is a world apart from frantic Salou. Parts of the town are still very Spanish in character with narrow, cobbled streets, ancient buildings and typical tapas bars. The resort retains all the charm of a small fishing village and boasts some world-class seafood restaurants. Sit by the quayside with a pre-dinner drink in the early evening and you'll be able to watch the day's catch being landed.

Cambrils is the perfect place for those of you who want to spend some quite days relaxing on the beach; this town has 9 km of sandy beaches for all you sea lovers!!

One can now walk from Cambrils in this almost perfect sea side walking path of few kilometres long which now connect until "Salou´s fuente luminosa", and never loose sight of the sea.

A wonderful place for people who enjoy walking

Mont-roig del Camp - Town

Mont-roig del Camp. 10 Km from Cambrils, is an agricultural town in which the famous Catalonia's painter "Joan Miró" spent many of his childhood years.

The church of St. Miguel is of gothic style, the construction works began in 1574.

Mont-roig is very close to places like "Riudecanyes" (with the Riudecanyes swamp), and the fantastic "monastery of Escornalbou", another fantastic route you may want to do.

Ametlla de Mar - Town

Another fantastic village well worth a visit is on the other side of the county, on the Mediterranean side and it's called " L'Ametlla de Mar", nowadays it is still a fisherman's village that has grown enormously in the last few years thanks to the huge tourist growth.

Close to L'Ametlla de Mar, we can find L'Hospitalet de l'Infant. In 1346, L'Hospitalet de l'Infant was born thanks to Peter IV, and his mother Blanca d'Anjou who founded the old hospital which bore the name.

To the south of Hospitalet de l´infant is the Naturist Beach of TORN. This beach is a paradise for the European families who are looking for peace and quiet, contact with nature and who want a high degree of comfort without being bothered in any way.

Perfect destination to go on holiday with family
Lauren Murier (12 Oct 2016 - 08:20)
I completely agree with Emily! In my opinion, the Costa Daurada is the perfect destination to go on holiday with family. The time I been there, my kids loved it so much. And so did I. We had a wonderful time, enjoying the beaches and a great deal of activities. I thought Salou wasn't the best city to include in my family trip, but I was wrong. We spent a great time there, such as in Cambrils. So it's perfect, at least!

  2. Ideal destination for a family! - Emily T. (13 Sep 2016 - 09:18)

The Dorada Coast is really a nice place to stay in holidays with family. A lot of cultural activities and hobbies for adults and childrens. I was in Salou at the beginning of July for 2 weeks with my husband and little boy, it was awesome, we visit the cities around and discover very charming places. Really peaceful and beautiful holidays!

  3. Coastal places between Tragona and Barcelona - Burt McCarthy (23 Jul 2016 - 09:02)

I am 88 years of age and I am looking to revisit an area about 30 minutes drive from Barcelona Airport with a railway station that appeared to be the end of the line as it has buffers for the train to easy itself onto, also there was no station and the platform lead onto a main pedestrian walkway on which there were shops on each side that ran for approximately 300 metres or more.

The local area was of good quality, it had a big indoor market and many high rise apartment blocks and shops of every description.

Can you please help me to revisit this area before it is too late.

    Many thanks,

    Burt McCarthy.

  4. Amazing Costa Dorada - Andrew (31 May 2016 - 12:34)

The truth is that the Costa Dorada is the most beautiful places in Catalonia. Beaches, theme parks, gastronomy ... perfect to go with friends and family!
