Schengen, non-Schengen or air shuttle
Which VIP lounge for your flight?
Which VIP lounge should you use at Barcelona airport?
You don't really choose: your flight decides. In Terminal 1, a flight within the Schengen area gives you access to Pau Casals, a non-Schengen flight to Joan Miró and the Barcelona-Madrid air shuttle to Colomer. In Terminal 2, the only lounge is Canudas.

Terminal 1
The three VIP lounges in Terminal 1
T1 serves Vueling, Iberia and most long-haul flights. Its three lounges are all airside, after security control, and each one matches a boarding area: you can only enter the one for your flight.
The Pau Casals VIP lounge, for Schengen flights
It is on level 2 of the boarding area for gates A, B and C, which serve flights within the Schengen area and domestic flights. It opens at 04:30 and stays open until the last flight, according to Aena. Priority Pass voted it the best lounge in the world in 2013.
It has a buffet with gluten-free, kosher and halal options, showers, a rest area, work spaces, a meeting room and a children's area. On Google Maps, it is listed as “Sala VIP Pau Casals”.
The Joan Miró VIP lounge, for non-Schengen flights
It is reserved for travellers flying outside the Schengen area: the United Kingdom, the Americas, North Africa, the Middle East. You will find it on level 2 of the gates D and E area, after passport control. It is open from 05:00 until the last flight.
It offers the same services as Pau Casals, with showers, a prayer room and a quiet room. It is also the only lounge that costs a little more: €51.26 entry instead of €48.
The Colomer VIP lounge, for the Barcelona-Madrid air shuttle
The third lounge is in the Barcelona-Madrid air shuttle corridor, and it is reserved for passengers on that shuttle. It is open from 06:00 to 21:00. If you are flying anywhere else, even within Spain, Pau Casals is your lounge.

Terminal 2
The Terminal 2 VIP lounge: Canudas
T2 serves Ryanair, easyJet, Transavia, Volotea and the other low-cost airlines. It has only one lounge, Canudas, on level 1 of the boarding area, near the U gates. According to Aena, it is open from 06:00 to 23:00.
It offers a buffet, wifi, showers, a rest area, work spaces and a quiet room. The entry price is the same as in T1: €48 per adult.
The two terminals are separate: a T1 lounge is no use if your flight leaves from T2, and vice versa. Check your terminal on your boarding pass, or on our arrivals, departures and terminals page.

Before security control
A lounge without a boarding pass: the T1 Premium VIP Lounge
Aena's four lounges are all after security. A fifth lounge, independent of Aena, is landside: the Premium VIP Lounge, also called the Sleep & Fly Business Center. It is on the 1st floor of T1: from the arrivals hall, follow the “Business Center” signs, in the same area as the Barcelona-Madrid air shuttle.
Open from 07:00 to 22:00, it serves travellers who cannot go through security yet: you have just landed and are waiting for someone, your check-in has not opened, or you are on a layover and leaving the terminal. Priority Pass includes it, for 4 hours at most. The shower, nap pod and meeting room cost extra.
For a whole night, a lounge is not what you need: look at hotels near the airport instead.

Without paying for entry
How can you get into a Barcelona airport VIP lounge for free?
Your ticket
With business class or frequent flyer status
No airline has its own lounge in Barcelona: business and first class passengers, and members of a frequent flyer programme that entitles them to it, use the Aena lounges. What gets you in is your fare class, under your airline's agreements: check with them before you travel.
Your card
With Priority Pass or a bank card
All five lounges at the airport, Aena's four and the Premium VIP Lounge, accept Priority Pass. Some premium bank cards include a Priority Pass membership or a similar programme, with a limited number of visits and guests. The terms vary from one card and one country to another: read your bank's.
At reception
What to show at the entrance
- your boarding pass, for a confirmed flight with an assigned seat;
- ID if required, and your guest's ID, as guests are registered too;
- your card or your paid access.
The lounge is for departing passengers only: you cannot use it on arrival.
Before buying from a reseller, check the lounge. Some websites sell access to the Colomer lounge for any Schengen flight, although Aena reserves it for Barcelona-Madrid air shuttle passengers. For a Schengen flight, your lounge is Pau Casals.
Good to know
The rules to know before you go in
No more than 3 hours before your flight
Access covers the 3 hours before your departure time. Arriving very early will not give you more time in the lounge, unless you pay an extra charge at reception.
The right lounge, in the right terminal
Each lounge belongs to a boarding area. Access to Pau Casals is no use for a non-Schengen flight, and no T1 lounge is any use for a T2 flight.
On busy days
Access bought without a flight date is subject to availability. When the lounge is full, Aena lets in first those who bought on its website or app, confirmed bookings and business card holders.
If your flight is delayed
If you gave your flight when you bought and it is delayed, reception adjusts the booking so you keep your access conditions.
With children or a pet
Children must stay under your supervision, and pets are allowed in their carrier. Pau Casals has a children's area.
