Regulated fares

Official 2026 airport taxi fares

Barcelona taxi fares are set by the Institut Metropolità del Taxi and apply to every black and yellow taxi, whether you take it at a rank or hail it in the street. The meter switches from one fare to the other automatically, depending on the day and the time.

Initial charge €2.80
Weekdays, 08:00-20:00 (T-1) €1.35 per km
Night, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays (T-2) €1.66 per km, from 20:00 to 08:00 on weekdays
Waiting time and traffic jams €27.75 an hour
Airport supplement €4.60, once per journey
Minimum fare from the airport €21, all supplements included
5 to 8 passengers €4.60
Special nights €4.60 from 20:00 to 08:00 on the nights of 23 to 24 June, 24 to 25 December and 31 December to 1 January
Supplement cap A maximum of €17.10 per journey
Luggage No supplement
Airport ↔ Moll Adossat €46 flat fare, all supplements included, in both directions

Example: a 10 km journey from the airport on a weekday comes to 2.80 + 13.50 + 4.60 = €20.90, so you are charged the €21 minimum. The same journey at night costs €24. Outside the municipalities of the metropolitan area, the Generalitat de Catalunya's interurban fares apply.

At the arrivals exit

Where to get a taxi at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2

All the taxi ranks are opposite the arrivals halls. The queue moves in order: you take the first taxi at the rank, unless there is an objective reason not to, such as a dirty vehicle or one that does not take cards.

Terminal 1

Taxis at Terminal 1 (T1)

The official taxi rank is on level 0, opposite arrivals. A second rank serves arrivals from the Barcelona-Madrid air shuttle, in the same terminal.

T1 is further from the city: it is around 17 km to Plaça Catalunya, which means €4 to €5 more than from T2.

Terminal 2

Taxis at Terminal 2 (T2A, T2B, T2C)

Each of the three T2 buildings has its own rank, opposite its arrivals: T2A, T2B and T2C. easyJet arrives at T2C, and most of the other T2 airlines at T2B.

From T2, Plaça Catalunya is around 14 km away by road.

The right taxi

How to recognise an official taxi at the airport

In Barcelona, the only official taxi is black and yellow, as Aena points out. Before you get in, a few quick checks are all you need:

  • the roof light shows whether the taxi is free and which fare it is charging;
  • the identification plate, at the front of the vehicle, shows the licence number, the registration number and the number of seats;
  • the official fare table is displayed on the rear right-hand window;
  • the taximeter shows the current fare, the price and the supplements, and prints the receipt.

You can choose your route, ask the driver to help with your suitcases and adjust the air conditioning.

For four people, a taxi costs less than the bus. A €30 fare split four ways comes to €7.50 each, less than a €7.75 single on the Aerobús, and it drops you at your door.

Taxi or ride-hailing

Uber, Cabify and Bolt at Barcelona airport

Yes, you can book a car with a driver at the airport. Aena lists three apps at both terminals: Uber, Cabify and Bolt. The driver does not wait for you at the taxi rank: book once you have collected your luggage, then go to the pick-up zone the app shows you. For Uber, Aena mentions a reserved zone in each terminal's car park.

How much is an Uber from the airport?

Uber quotes an average price of around €30 for UberX to Barcelona, and €37 for a fixed-price taxi booked through the app. These are averages, with no guarantee: the exact price is shown before you book and varies with demand. Uber does not offer a flat fare to the city centre.

Taxi or Uber?

Prices are similar. You can take a taxi straight away at the arrivals exit, and it follows an official fare. The app shows the price before you set off, which is reassuring if you do not know the city. Uber, Cabify and FREENOW also let you book an official black and yellow taxi.

Check the car before you get in. The colour, model, number plate and driver's first name must match those shown in the app.

Pick-up points can change: rely on the app rather than on a map.

On arrival or for your return

Booking a taxi at the airport: fixed prices and apps

When you arrive, there is no need to book: taxis wait at the rank and the fare is the same. Booking is mainly useful for getting to the airport, at a precise departure time, or to find out the price before you get in.

Fixed prices through an app

Apps approved by the Institut Metropolità del Taxi can offer a fixed price, calculated before the journey from the route and the traffic at the time. It includes all supplements, the taxi's journey to pick you up and 5 minutes' waiting time, but no stops along the way. The minimum is still €21 from the airport, and €46 to the Moll Adossat. The app must always let you choose to pay by the meter instead.

Which apps?

With the official AMB Mobilitat app you can book a taxi on the meter or at a fixed price. The Institut also lists FREENOW, Uber, Cabify, Taximés, TaxiClick Easy and JoinUp among the services for booking a taxi. The phone numbers of the radio-taxi companies are on our taxis in Barcelona page.

Booked in advance

Want a driver waiting for you at arrivals?

A private transfer is booked before your trip, at a fixed price: the driver meets you at the arrivals exit, even if your flight is late. Handy for families, groups or a middle-of-the-night arrival.

Good habits

Barcelona airport taxis: pitfalls to avoid

Following someone who offers you a ride in the hall

You take taxis from the rank, in queue order: a taxi is not allowed to pick up a passenger within 50 metres of a rank. Someone who approaches you in the arrivals hall offering you a car is not an official taxi.

Paying a "city centre flat fare"

There is no official flat fare between the airport and the city centre. The only fixed price is the €46 fare to the Moll Adossat, the cruise port. Anywhere else, you pay what the meter shows, or a fixed price quoted by an approved app.

Paying supplements that do not exist

The €4.60 airport supplement is only charged once. Suitcases cost nothing. The supplements on one journey cannot exceed €17.10 in total.

Leaving without a receipt

Always ask for the printed receipt: it shows the price, the route, the licence number and the registration number. Without it, making a complaint to the Institut Metropolità del Taxi, or tracking down something you left behind, becomes difficult.

Assuming you can pay by card

Cards are accepted when the taxi says so. Otherwise, have cash ready: the driver must be able to give change for up to €20.

Cruise passengers

Taxis between the airport and the cruise port

Between the airport and the Moll Adossat cruise terminals, taxis charge an official €46 flat fare, in both directions, all supplements included. The other ways to get there, and how much time to allow, are covered in our guide from the airport to the cruise port.
