The Mercat de la Concepció in Barcelona was built by the Catalan architect Antoni Rovira i Trias. Construction of the market began in 1888 and was completed in 1889. Rovira i Trias was a renowned architect of the Catalan modernist era and designed several iconic buildings in Barcelona, including the Mercat de Sant Antoni and the Mercat del Born. The Mercat de la Concepció is located in the Eixample district and is one of the most popular markets in the city, offering a variety of fresh and local products.
The Mercat de la Concepció in Barcelona was renovated between 2002 and 2005 to modernise the market's facilities and preserve its historical character. The renovation work improved the infrastructure, functionality and aesthetics of the market while preserving its original architecture.
