El Tropezón is a small and typical tapas bar that’s open all day. Really rustic but recognized for its patatas bravas and the Bomba (patato croquette with sobrasada and peppers).
A nice place and very nice prices

Si queréis comer mínimamente bien, iros a otro sitio.

I couldn't agree more with the last writer. Don't go to this place!

  5. El Tropezon - Lars (16 Jan 2012 - 00:15)

I am living one street away since 5 years, so I know my area and I know where to eat good food. I tried El Tropezon twice, and was always very disappointed. Actually, every day I walk by there I see it full of tourists.
My opinion: The treatment is just bad. The place is decorated like a farm, and you might be treated like an animal "sit there, sit here, order now! etc". The food is heavy, oily, greasy, deep fried. The staff looks like they eat their own food every day, with rests of it left on their shirts...or maybe they worked on a farm all day.
While I can not say anything particularly bad about the food, I can also not remember anything specially good. If you go there, you might value more the smiles that receive you in other places.

  6. No vayais - Anna (29 Nov 2011 - 09:30)

  8. Worst restaurent - Kevin (16 Aug 2010 - 15:00)

I have been in Barcelona for one week and this is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. The waiter was rude with a cigarette in his mouth...The food was tasteless and I am suprise this is in the time out magazine.

  9. ATTRAPE TOURISTE - V&J (14 Aug 2010 - 01:30)

  11. Bar El Tropezon 4 visits - MC. (18 Jul 2009 - 01:16)

On the way from our hotel room to the restaurant we passed through the plaza in front of city hall. On both Friday and Saturday nights we were lucky enough to performances by the castellers, with several different clubs in a sort of exhibition/friendly competition

the food at the Bar El Tropezon is as delicious as it is unpretentious. some little dishes, like the spicy sausages, deserve special mention. it is served with lots of hunks of wonderfully ordinary bread to soak up any of the scant oil that dare to venture from the confines of the taut, tender natural membrane that encases the randomly sized little morsels. meaty and just the right amount of spice. the perfect blend.

the brava potatoes are just as good as they say they are. the suace here is wonderfully garlicky, as compared to other places that do a hot pepper sort of sauce. i had them 3 of the four visits i recently paid to Bar El Tropezon.

the eggplant (aubergine/berenjena(?)) was another important dish. perfectly roasted with red peppers, olives, and i don't know what else, perfectly wreathed with a healthy spash of olive oil. i think we had it all 4 visits. to me, delcious!

if you like really good food, served in a typically quirky funky backroom of a bar type setting, at entirely reasonable prices, you should put this place on your itenirary.

if you add the fact that this place is open when a LOT of restaurants are closed, it really becomes apparent that this little place is a treasure! easy to walk to from about anywhere on Las Ramblas, if you know where you are going.

alas, i didn't get my directions straight and i spent about 30 minutes walking around in circles in search of the place. seems funny, now.

of course, that won't happen to you.

  13. Superb food - Dave from Ireland (3 Dec 2008 - 09:15)

Superb food, great atmosphere. Drink the carafes of hous wine as the small bottles are very expensive.
