Santa Maria

Santa Maria - Barcelona
Santa Maria is a rare place. Tapas here are extremely creative, cooks from Ferran Adrià's school will surprise you with their imagination. A delight to taste all the tapas with the tasting menu at 17 and 27euros... Beautiful people's canteen. Always full, you better book...
We passed by again in May 2011 the menu did not change a whole. They fall asleep a little on their reputation. Caution. .lk

Best regards from the four ladies in Norway

We found this place by accident and both of us think it was the best meal of our lives. For just 26 Euro we had exquisite, creative, delicious, tempting food that kept coming. Maybe 7 courses- including a lasse smoothie to start, three kinds of dessert, frog legs, beef, sushi, a great salad and artwork that kept us talking all evening. We highly recommend it! July 2010
This place is Awesome! - Lulu (1 Oct 2008 - 02:54)
The food at Santa Maria is great and very punk rock! The food is filled with amazing unexpected flavors! The service was great too, very helpful, and knowledgeable. The food was not expensive for the quality. Portion sizes were tapas size,it was great to be able to try lots of things!!! Try the Dracula dessert its bound to delight!

amazing place! - Thari De Pooter (19 May 2007 - 16:17)
I'm a student from Belgium and I worked in Santa Maria for school in the kitchen 3months last summer, and believe me, I had the time of my life there! Everybody was so nice and sweet and they new that I was there to learn the Spanish kitchen, what will say that they teached me and let me work, not just look! The food is very special but everything you taste will be delicious! The kitchen will stay special, everything they serve, is taste by all the people who works there before they serve it to the costumers! This is very good, because you know what you serve and can also explain to the costumers what they can expect!
Keep your nice enthousiasm to work this hard and give a lot of people a nice meal that they will never forget!!
big kiss and love you all!!

What a wonderful experience - Jeannette (30 Jun 2006 - 10:08)
Went there by coincidence on a rainy Thursday eve in june: Thought they would serve traditional spanish tapas and were just overwhelmed by the best "higado con ensaimada de cabello de angel" Never knew that liver can be such a delight in combination with sweet pastry. Very good wine at reasonable prices - simply wonderful!
Santa Maria Restaurant, Barcelona - Tassos from Athens (8 Apr 2006 - 12:27)
Amazing food, fantastic new flavours!! Excellent atmosphere. Unfortunately the service is tragic. Since they don't make reservations they should have the ability to handle the customers better when no tables are available for the next 30min.
Complements to the chef and an advice: Please, find a capable hostess!!

Went to Sanata Maria for ameal a couple of years ago - very good. Tried to book a table for two for a visit in April. The miserable bastards now only book for a table of five people. There's plenty of other places in Barcelona! Bollocks to them.
