FC Barcelona - Como 1907: Barça Reunite with Cesc Fàbregas at Camp Nou
FC Barcelona host Como 1907 on Wednesday, January 27, 2027, at 9 pm at Spotify Camp Nou on the final matchday of the 2026/2027 Champions League phase. It will be a first-ever meeting in the competition and could prove decisive for the standings and qualification for the round of 16.
On paper, Barça will be the favourites, but Como are one of the rising forces in Italian football. The match will also have a special significance with the return to Barcelona of Cesc Fàbregas, the former Blaugrana player who is now the Italian club’s head coach.
FC Barcelona - Como: Two Very Different Journeys
With five Champions League titles to their name, FC Barcelona are one of the great institutions of European football. Led by Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Raphinha and the other stars of the Blaugrana squad, Hansi Flick’s team will have the advantage of playing this final league-phase match in front of their home supporters.
Their opponents, Como 1907, are enjoying a spectacular rise. Promoted to Serie A in 2024, the Lombardy club continued its remarkable progress by finishing fourth in the Italian league in 2025/2026, earning a historic place in the Champions League.
This will be Como’s first-ever appearance in Europe’s most prestigious club competition.
Cesc Fàbregas Returns to Face Barça
One of the main attractions of this Barça - Como match will, of course, be Cesc Fàbregas. A product of La Masia, the former Spanish midfielder left Barcelona for Arsenal before returning to Barça in 2011. FC Barcelona and Como 1907 have never previously faced each other in European competition. However, the two clubs have already met.
Como were Barça’s guests for the 2025 Joan Gamper Trophy. The Catalans recorded a convincing 5-0 victory, with two goals from Fermín López, two from Lamine Yamal and one from Raphinha.
The meeting on January 27, 2027, will be a very different occasion: for the first time in their history, Barcelona and Como will face each other in the Champions League.
