New Camp Nou
New Camp Nou project
FC Barcelona will return to Camp Nou on 10 August 2025 for the Joan Gamper Trophy, with a match against Italian club Como 1907. After this match, the club will play its first four La Liga matches of the 2025-2026 season away from home, a dispensation granted by LaLiga to allow for the completion of the work and the necessary authorisations to be obtained. The return to official competition at Camp Nou is scheduled for mid-September 2025, but the stadium will still be under construction. Only the first two stands will be accessible, with a capacity of around 60,000 spectators. Work on the third stand, VIP boxes and the new roof will continue until summer 2026, when the Espai Barça project will be fully completed.
The main objectives of the project include
Enhanced spectator experience: State-of-the-art facilities and more comfortable spaces to offer an unrivalled experience.
Increased capacity: More seats to accommodate even more passionate fans.
Sustainability: Incorporating environmentally-friendly technologies to reduce the stadium's ecological footprint.
Innovative architecture: A contemporary structure that fuses aesthetics and functionality.
Cutting-edge technology: Giant screens, enhanced connectivity and advanced audio-visual systems.
VIP and hospitality areas: Exclusive areas offering premium services and uninterrupted views of the pitch.
The works
Work on the new Camp Nou and the new "Palau Blaugrana" is progressing on schedule. The project, known globally as "Espai Barça", is a €1.5 billion investment to renovate FC Barcelona's stadium and build the Palau Blaugrana.
- The new Camp Nou will cost €900 million to build, increasing its capacity from the current 99,354 to 111,000 (Camp Nou capacity). FC Barcelona's new stadium will be more functional, more modern, more spacious and covered, since a roof will be built. The new Camp Nou stadium will see the light of day in 2025.
- A further 600 million euros will be spent on building the Palau Blaugrana, a 15,000-seat venue for the club's basketball and handball teams. The new building will meet the standards required to host a Euroleague basketball final, for example. Work on the Palau Blaugrana is due to start in 2024, with inauguration scheduled for 2026.
