Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Barcelona City 22@, an IHG Hotel for a week while visiting the sights in Barcelona. Despite being in a quieter part of the city, it was only a 10-minute walk from the nearest Metro station and within 5-10 minutes of plenty of good quality bars and restaurants. Check in/ check out was quick and easy. The room was a good size and the breakfast buffet had a great selection. At certain times, however, we found ourselves waiting for a table due to the number of guests, although the staff had a note on the door explaining when it's busiest. Since Covid we asked for our room only to be serviced every other day, but despite that and us displaying a Do Not Disturb sign on the door, it was still serviced. We would definitely recommend this hotel for those wanting to visit the sights of Barcelona.
A l8te checkin cen be scarry. Sktechy neigbourhood at night and hotle is loked up woth no way to communite with check in desk one floor up. Luckly antoher gues was entering and let us in. Staf is soper friendly and helpfull. Smal sparten comon aera. Brakfast has no eggs and mostley breads and cereal and some cold cuts. Room is tyny. Shwer is grate. OK for a shot stay..
The staff of this hotel were very welcoming and the shared areas were sparkling clean, however the bedrooms left much to be desired. Across the multiple rooms that were booked, we found dust bunnies around each corner, under the beds and yellow-stained towels. The smell in the room was less pleasant and there were sugar packets which had been left behind. Additionally, the hot-water boiler hadn't been cleaned properly either. The beds themselves were comfortable, but the pillows were much too hard for our liking. The issue of cleanliness was very evident as white socks turned black just 20 minutes after entering the room. Eventually some of us had to get down on our hands and knees and use wet-wipes to mop the floors. Fortunately the bathrooms were spotless. Apart from the lack of cleanliness, everything else was satisfactory, including the fast wifi. The front desk staff were exceptionally accommodating, they even opened up the breakfast buffet extra early so we could eat before our flight.
I recently stayed at the amazing Holiday Inn Express Barcelona City 22@, an IHG Hotel and I can definitely say it is the best hotel I've stayed in when it comes to visiting Barcelona. The staff were so accommodating and polite, they really made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The rooms were immaculately clean, with very comfy beds, and the breakfast had a wide range of options. All-in-all this hotel was a peaceful and ideal place to stay during our trip and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great Barcelona stay.
Check in is NOT on the ground floor, but the first floor. Reception was extremely efficient - we arrived around 9:40 and were given a room straight away. There's plenty of storage available - those travelling early or late can make use of the luggage storage, and there are plenty of hooks to hang jackets. The lobby on the ground floor is attractive and provides a second lobby on the first floor. Breakfast was amazing - they checked if we were hotel guests, and the selection was great. They had coffee machines with a variety of choices, muesli, pastries, cold cuts, cheese, bread, juice, beans, eggs and salads. Unfortunately, there were no meat options such as bacon or sausage. Wifi is complimentary and had good speed - pings of 6ms and download speed of 9.47mbps and upload speed of 9.63mbps. Room was small but clean, although there was no fridge and no ice bucket. Coffee was provided but there was a warning not to misuse it or be charged. There was a flat screen TV but it wasn't used. Bathroom was spotless and had good hot water pressure. There were no soap bars - just soap, shampoo and body wash dispensers. In the neighbourhood, there was a small store selling pastries, and a Mercadona supermarket with a microwave and hot food, although there weren't many restaurants close by. There was a L4 metro station (Llacuna) around 350 metres away. There was also a taxi stand just outside the hotel, so it was easy to get around.
