This hotel isn't quite up to the standard of a 5-star. While it's nice enough, there's something really missing to make it great. I found a used tissue in the bin of my room, and had to walk through the lobby and bar to get to the pool - not very convenient. The service was okay but not great and the tea I ordered came in a nice teapot...which was more than half empty and didn't even fill a single cup. The location is way too secluded from the rest of the city, and they try to be trendy but just don't quite get it right - the cocktail hour music in the lobby bar was so loud there was no chance of having a conversation. Unfortunately I won't be returning here.
I was disappointed in my stay at the W Barcelona Hotel. I had expected the customer service to be up to the standards of Marriott International, but to my surprise I was denied entry to the rooftop bar for being underdressed. Even though I was wearing business attire, the other patrons had much more casual attire - jeans, shorts, etc. Additionally, my shower was not functioning properly - the knob was broken and when I could get it to work, the water was way too hot.
We visited this place mainly for one of the Wet Deck Summer Series events that run throughout summer. The location was perfect - effortlessly cool (although a lot of effort surely goes into it!) and it had a very VIP vibe. We stayed in a “Fabulous Room” with an incredible sea view. The Wet Deck Summer Series experience was amazing, with incredible music all night. The service from the VIP tables was top quality. The minimum spend for a table of 4 people was €500, but even for 2 of us it was worth it. We had food and cocktails at the Noxe bar and restaurant at the hotel (which had just opened that weekend, I think) and it had exclusive feel with great views of Barcelona as it was situated on the top floor. Having stayed at a few places like this, I would say this one's my favorite.
As an Elite member of Marriott, we booked a wonderful room with an ocean view and a King bed. However, when we arrived we were given two full beds instead. Our room was on the second floor and situated atop a lounge or restaurant. Unfortunately, it is now past 1am and the loud music playing has prevented us from getting any rest. When we asked for a different room we were told the hotel was fully booked, yet we had reserved ours in advance. This is why we securely planned ahead!
very knowledgeable and willing to help with anything...definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Barcelona
I was delighted by my stay - everything was great! The location was ideal, right next to the beach - so it was difficult to find fault. There was a small issue which was taken care of without any issues. The service was good, in particular Gabriel - he really stands out as a Marriott representative and is very knowledgeable and always willing to help out. I would definitely suggest this place to anyone coming to Barcelona.
