With the grand opening of the hotel DO. Plaça Reial there are now more 5 star hotels in Barcelona than in Madrid (24 vs 23). 

Sign than Barcelona is more and more attractive, the city opened 8 new hotels in 2011 and is believed to open 11 more this year.
Quite an exception in Europe by nowadays.
DO. Plaça Reial, is in fact a 1856 building rehabilitated by Oriol Bohigas a well-known architect from Barcelona. Lázaro Rosa Violán took care of the Interior design of the 18 rooms and suites.

Kimi's F1 quickest in final F1 testing in Barcelona

Returning world champion Kimi Raikkonen emerged the surprise pace-setter in final testing for the 2012 Formula One season.

The moody Finn was smiling after his Lotus prepared for next week's season-opening Australian Grand Prix with the quickest lap at Catalunya.

The 2007 drivers champion, who is back in F1 after a three-year absence, stopped the clock at 1minute 22.030seconds - the best time of both Barcelona test sessions...

Good to know: The Formula 1 - Gran Premio de España Santander 2012 will be held on 20-21-22 May 2012 in Barcelona!

A thought for Antoni Tàpies i Puig who died yesterday (6 February 2012).Tàpies was a Catalan painter, sculptor and art theorist. One of the most famous European artists of his generation.
Tàpies was perhaps the best-known Catalan artist to emerge in the period since the Second World War.

In Spain, the arriving of the Magic Kings is the most important celebration of Christmas time. It's the time of presents, dinners and happiness.

In order to receive the presents, children have to give a letter with a list of their wishes and presents they want to the magic king they prefer. These, they pass through a parade offering sweets, music and joy! In catalan they call it the "cabalgata dels reis mags"

The parade takes place the 5th over a route of almost 5km through the city. The Magic Kings will arrive from the sea in a boat at 5pm!!
