Frederic Marès, the founder of this museum was a sculptor, historian, and a teacher. Its heterogeneous collection includes the most important gathering of Hispanic sculpture from the 12th to the 19th centuries in Spain.

We appreciate this museum because of its inside courtyard, fresh and perfect for having a break while visiting the Gothic area of Barcelona!

Il n'est pas un passage à Barcelona où je ne renouvelle ma visiteà ce musée époustouflant, et semble-t-il assez méconnu. Une grandiose collection de statuaire religieuse du roman au baroque et une magnifique surprise pour tous les amateurs d'objets de collection du XIXème, des cannes, des éventails, des bénitiers à foison, les objets dufumeur, etc... et, en apothéose, au dernier étage, les bouquets de coquillages sous globe et des terres cuites de crèche fabuleuses! Pour vous remettre de toutes ces émotions, un beau ^patio d'orangers plus fréquenté que le reste...Quel chineur hors-pair que ce professeur Marès!
