Le Meridien Barcelona is an average 4 star boutique hotel selling only due to the Marriott name associated with it. It is definitely not a 5 star hotel! There are many reasons for this, including the lack of a drop-off car lobby, a small reception with limited seating and 2 receptionists, outdated floors with a low ceiling making it feel claustrophobic, rooms with no views or blocked by buildings right up next to each other, Triple rooms too small with a 3 ft window looking straight into another building with no privacy, outdated interiors and unhelpful staff who are more interested in pushing suites at higher rates than understanding guests' concerns. Such properties give a bad name to other brands like Marriott and Le Meridien, where guests are lured in with false pictures and the Marriott name that later becomes regretful. We definitely do not recommend this hotel.
Staying here was a great choice! The location is perfect, within walking distance of great shopping, the Gothic Quarter and the bus station. On our first day our room was a bit noisy and quite small, so we were delighted when we were able to move to the 8th floor with an amazing view of the city. Although that room was small too, the patio was almost as big. In the mornings we would sit out and enjoy our coffee, and in the evening we'd drink glasses of wine and Cava purchased from the market just two doors down. The on-site restaurant served a good breakfast and overlooked La Rambla. At night, the dinner served was much better than anticipated and so much nicer than all the other al fresco restaurants. We look forward to staying here again the next time we visit this wonderful city.
This accommodation offered me an unbeatable spot! It was right on Rambla, close to countless stores, activities, and best of all, the beach! I could easily access the Gothic Quarter, Casa Batlló, Barcelona Beach, the Cathedral, Placa Real, and Placa Catalunya in just a few minutes on foot. Plus, right beside me was La Boqueria! What more could I ask for?
We travelled as a family of four and had two rooms - a deluxe room with two beds for the teens, and a Grand Terrace suite for the parents. It worked out perfectly. The suite was spacious and the terrace was worth every penny, doubling the space we had to spread out (and have enough spaces for everyone to do their own thing when needed!). The kids' room was perfect - basic, yet spacious with a sitting area and far enough away from mom and dad when they wanted their privacy.
The accommodation had a great location, right on Las Ramblas and a short walk to La Boqueria and the Gothic quarter (cathedral, roman towers, Picasso museum, etc.). It was a bit further to La Sagrada Familia - we walked there but took a taxi back to the property to save time (and energy since it was a hot day). Taxis were easy to find.
The service at the accommodation was excellent with a friendly and helpful staff. We were welcomed with a bottle of cava and some sweets on our first night, which was a great treat and a lovely way to end our travel day. We used room service (ordered ice and snacks a few times) and they were always prompt and professional. Great decision to stay here while visiting Barcelona.
This hotel was gr8! Bathrooms were nicce with gud water pressure. Staf was frindly. The locaton was awsome. Its vry close 2 the huge foo market and is pritty much in th gothic quater.
