Davita Market
An Italian that goes beyond the pizzas.
Davita Market is not long player of the panorama of Barcelona. In its day, when it opened, it started with a curious system. As if it were a market with different shops the order was made in each of the different sections: drink, pasta, pizza, sausages. They adopted the casual dining format. By means of a system of alarms, they warned the clients of when the order was prepared and the client had to go and picked it up. Now, after a couple of years they have decided to go back to the usual table service system. Luckily, both the space and its cuisine, has had little modification.
The space follows the aesthetic of looking like a market where each store offers its own. It is large and has a reserved space for groups and events. Regarding its gastronomic offer, it is still one of the Italian restaurants in Barcelona in which to find the most classic specialties. Their elaborations are done at the moment, nothing frozen.
Lunch at noon offers a menu on weekdays for 14.90 Euros from 13 to 16 hours. There is no problem if you prefer to try something a la carte. Their products are mostly brought from Italy to be as faithful as possible to their image.
On our visit, we tried some of their most characteristic dishes. We started with a burrata that the same waiter recommended. Bufala's Caprese di Burrata with cherry tomatoes, basil and mint, arugula and fresh figs is fresh and creamy. An ideal entree to start the meal and share, as it is a good portion. Another of its proposals, somewhat lighter is Carpaccio Veneziano di Vitello. Carpaccio Venetian style with celery, lemon, arugula, cherry tomatoes, green asparagus, endive, zucchini flower and Parmigiano Reggiano. Very well seasoned, a choice that next to the burrata make two good first courses.
The pasta can not be missing. At Davita Market, it is fresh and homemade. There is stuffed or simple and they offer several sauces to accompany them. We were seduced by the Tagliolini with Nero di sepia, Calamari and finocchio. The pasta was al dente and the fennel gave freshness to the plate. Very rich.
We tried their meats, since it is the new offer that they have introduced with their new modification. Let us advise and recommend you a Tagliata di vitello al frutti di Bosco. A good portion of meat served with the cut (not forget that it is a Tagliata) accompanied by a cream of Gorgonzola and mascarpone and a red fruit sauce. These accompaniments were served separately to be prepared to your taste.
The bakery has an exclusive dedicated counter. In fact their ice cream is famous in Barcelona and they have various artisans that do ice cream exclusively for them. Of course, if you decide to go for a cake, do not forget to try their tiramisu. Exquisite!!.
