The best tapas in Barcelona, bar none.

Try the asparagus and mushroom tapas-freshly made with just a hint of salt. The asparagus were tender but crisp and the mushrooms delicately complimented the dish. Waitstaff very helpful and suggested a variety of tapas for our table of four.
We were not disappointed with the selection of potato, steak,shrimp,green peppers,squid,and smelts. More than sufficiently filled us up. Thank you to Louis for a wonderful recommendation!

Hebben de afgelopen week 2 keer hier gegeten. Heerlijk en super lekkere kan sangria. Maar ook de tapas waren heerlijk. Echt een aanrader!!

wil je heerlijk tapas eten en genieten op een terras, met heaters?? Cuidad Condal is the place! zelfs als je er in de rij moet wachten voor een tafeltje binnen of buiten, heerlijk biertje of wijntje erbij!echt, het is het waard!!!!

la vez que fuie el camarero me hizo lo mismo. te cobranpor tarjeta y dicen que no funciona para qu epages en efectivo pero lo peor es que la tarjeta a funcionado y se guardan dos veces el pago. Seguramente piensan que que como son turistas no van a protestar porque estaran ya lejos y sin prueba alguna de haber pagado dos veces (ya que una de ellas es en efectivo). Me gustaria que el webmaster quitara de aqui este restaurante estafador.

Every time I go to Barcelona I make sure that I have spare time to visit this place. I have been there many times. Start with a 'Superflautas' (beer) and a 'Sole Mio' and then make your choice from the fresh made tapas. You will have a great time. Writing this I think I should go again soon.

j'ai lu bcp d'avis positif sur ce restaurant tapas et je me demande bien pourquoi : fade, gras, cher, j'ai commandé des calamars à la romaine la pâte à beignet etait pas cuite blanche et le calamar du chewing gum, et le clou de la soirée c'etait l'omelette tellement grasse que j'ai du l'eponger , je n'y retournerai plus ça c'est sûr !

Cela fait longtemps que je voulais gouter les Tapas de Ciudad Condal... Il y a toujours plein de monde, la plupart des clients sont des locaux et la renommée du lieu n'est plus à démontrer. Et pourtant... étant à Barcelone pour le Week End, nous y sommes allé et je suis décu. Les bravas étaient mous, le reste n'avait pas trop de goût et les prix sont élevés pour la quantité. Donc en résumé, il y a tellement de bons endroits où manger des tapas à Barcelone que j'ai regretté ma visite dans ce resto. Espérons que ce ne soit qu'une mauvaise passe....

but i was surprised to see that someone says (in french) that he got charged twice when he paid with his bank card.
they said (after tapping the code) that there was a problem.
as a matter of fact, i had this too.
i paid with credit card, so it was easily protested afterwards.
as i read now that it happens more than once, i'm a bit disappointed in the place...
but probably i'll go there again and just pay with cash ;)

I wanted to go where the locals went to eat and to avoid the tourist eatieries with their laminated menus. I asked an attendant in a Chemist (these are far classier affairs in Europe than their UK counteparts) and she recommended Ciudao Condal.
The tapas is superb with the most fantastic cured ham and the waiter was excellent at making delicious suggestions of what I should try from the menu. To summarise my experience, friendly staff (with good English), truly delicious food and bustling with locals having a good time. Go there! It's well worth the effort.

I was in Barcelona from 5/21-5/26/09 and one of my best meals was at Cuidad Condal. We had the mini hamburgers with caramelized onions and they were amazing and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely heading back there the next time I'm in town.

I NEED A PROPER FILLING BREAKFAST 2 sort me out for the rest of the day! best one ive had so far is on the ramblas 2 eggs 2 bacon tomatoes plus toast and the nicest friendly service on the ramblas -xmatu i hope that i have spelled it correct as they are the nicest people so friendly and they put the rest of the ramblas ,apart from the nice waiters at bar joan - to shame!

Dans cet restaurant semble exister un type d'arnaque bien particuliere: Quand vous règlez par carte bancaire, il arrive, qu'après avois tapé votre code, l'on vous indique que "çà n'a pas marché.." Confiant, vous règlez en espèces...Pour voir quelques jours plus tard votre compte bancaire débité" Donc double paiement,Toute réclamation demeure sans réponse.. Qui sont les escrocs ? employés ou la direction????
Donc si celà vous arrive, EXIGEZ bien le ticket d'abandon de la carte bancaire.

Ciudad Condal was the best food we ate when we visited Barcelona in May 2008. The service was great, the tapas fresh and the atmosphere upscale and hip. The desserts were fabulous as well! A place not to be missed!

I will not recomend this restaurant. Staff is very unhelpful and very rude.

I generally am not a fan of tapas, or Spanish food in general. This place is clean, fabulous service, and my No1 place to eat when i go to Barcelona.

Walked in from the street as it looked very inviting and the fish looked appealing.
Ordered Boquerones,Prawns and some Calamari. Found it fairly dissapointing to be honest, had eaten at El Quim in the Boqueria earlier for half the price and found it to be much much better. It was very busy and enjoyed the overall ambience, but the food was a letdown..

as an turkish client who has been visiting bcn for many years,everytime ı get condal and everday ,sometimes 2 times in a day,and never forget the taste of tapas even get back my country.As an admirer of condal ı always adviced my friends and all my relatives who are coming to bcn and they liked too much and mentioned about to the friends also.So we are a big amount of admirer crowd of people advirtising condal........I wish them not to loose their ouality as taste and price policy in many years.... awaiting visiting soonly.

A un prix raisonnable, vous trouverez ici un grand choix de bonnes tapas, mais c'est un lieu prisé, car bonne adresse, dans un décor somptueux à l'intérieur;
Une attente est à prévoir pour y avoir une table, surtout en terrasse.
Mais c'est une excellente adresse pour y manger, et on sent bien que la clientèle y est...ce n'est pas un bar à tapas de prolétaires lol.
ça fait beaucoup plus restau que bar à tapas.

TAXI DRIVER TOLD US TO TRY THIS TAPAS BAR WITH A MODERN LOUNGY LOOK AND WE FELL FOR IT THE FIRST TIME WE VISITED. WE TRIED OTHER TAPAS BARS, BUT THIS ONE WAS THE BEST. YOU CAN SIT AT THE BAR AND MAKE YOUR CHOISE, BUT ALSO TAKE A TABLE AT THE BACK OF THE RESTAURANT, HERE YOU WILL FIND A HUGE DISPLAY OF CANS OF INTERNATIONAL BEER-BRANDS AGAINST THE WALLS, WITH SPOTLIGHT ON THEM. TAPAS CHANGE EVERY DAY, EXCELLENT FOOD, CONCERNING STAFF. WELL DRESSED SPANISH LOCALS AND BUSINESS MEN-WOMAN (NO TOURISTS/BACKPACKERS).
HIGH ARCHED CEILINGS. JUST 2 MINUTES NORTH OF PLACA CATALUNYA. TO AVOID CROWDS GET THERE EARLY AFTERNOON FOR LUNCH WITH A GLAS OF TORRES ROSE. GETS REAL BUSY AFTER 09.30 PM. SO GET IN BEFORE THAT TIME TO GET THE BEST SPOT AT THE BAR. GO FOR IT!!!

When visited Barcelona you should visit Ciudad Condal. Great atmosphere and ambiance , even in the afternoon as well as midnight. During one of our last city visits we been there every day. During the summer you can sit outside on the terras as well. But most important a broad/fresh tapas assortment with nice /friendly service.
So realy looking forward to our next vist on March 7. ( Barca -Chelsea)

Hands down the best tapas bar in Barcelona. Great ambiance and great food. Not to be missed!

Dined at this great tapas bar in May 14, 2005.
It was fantastic. Highly recommend this restaurant.
