Suborn Club & Restaurant
In the nineties the neighbourhood El Born went throughout a strong night entertainment revolution, becoming one of the most solid ludic purposes from the city. With an already well-known cultural tradition, combining vanguardism and entertainment, it has been since then one of the most chosen areas to search new offers by the locals. From that nineties strong wave remains the ones that where pioneers, the ones that got consolidated throughout its quality and not its opportunism. Back in the days we still keep our meeting point, we still have Suborn.
Staring from the inertia that is created from the place that is the meeting point for the regulars from the barrio, Suborn is consolidated as the chosen place to have dinner and have the first drink, where to meet with new people. The environment is heterogenic and casual. Starting from twenty-five to up, everything fits in here, a mixture of young and not so young people, from all the social levels, with tendency to new artistic movements, vanguards and, its main field, gastronomy.
With club culture mentality, in the kitchen we see coming several invited artists that define the menu during their temporal residencies. It this dynamic they get a variety for the menu all along the season, with gastronomic influence depending on the geographic origin of the invited chef. An example to this, are the sporadic surprise parties or the tasting menus that they organize some often, designed by different artists at once.
But it also exist the classic dishes that give tradition to the house. They count on a really scored range of salads with cheese or tasty meet dishes variety, which are all a good choice. In our occasion we had one of the star dishes from the place: enchilada of chicken with vegetables into aceto y parmeggiano (is good to be hungry for it, but anyhow you will finish it for sure!). As a starter we had Conchinchilla Pilpil (tortitas de maíz & spiced pig). And as deserts, (...obviously!) we had the more than legendary chocolate Vulcanet with acid apple ice-cream. Trust me when I say is something really special. I know people who are coming to have dinner in Suborn just because of these chocolate Vulcanet!
After this gastronomic tribute to us, one doesn't see any reason to go somewhere else, as the environment which grows up in the place is festive and colourful. Any night you can find an unexpected party or special music session.
