We returned to Barcelona last weekend and as always we booked ourselves into Casa Calvet for dinner. Again the food was fabulous and the Oxtail stew with red wine and vegetable cannelloni was "historic" to quote someone, as was the Warm Octopus Salad.The service was exemplary and the staff most attentive but not overbearing.This has to be one of our favourite restaurants of all time , the interior is to die for and I never get tired of sitting in the room taking in the ambience , it is fabulous .If in Barcelona do not miss this restaurant ; great food and an architectural treasure to savour.

Casa Calvet - Gaudi - Barcelona

The Casa Calvet, built as a dwelling and offices for the textile manufacturer Pere Calvet, is the first and least imaginative of the three houses Gaudi designed for Barcelona's Eixample (Extension). the interest of the Casa Calvet centres on the imaginative resolution of the rear façade, the decoration of the hallway, and the design of the furniture, purely organic and breaking with everything before it. What most calls attention on the façade are the symbolic elements. Over the door, the owner's initial, C; and supporting the main gallery, a cypress, symbol of hospitality. On the main storey, the relieves represent mushrooms, because Pere Calvet was a mycologist. Above the gallery, the horn of plenty. The three heads of the crown represent Saint Peter the martyr (Pere Calvet's patron), Saint Genesius of Arles and Saint Genesius of Rome, patrons of Vilassar, in el Maresme, where the family came from.
You can not visit the Casa Calvet in Barcelona but you can discover the very good restaurant Casa Calvet inside the building.

Every time we visit Barcelona ( our favourite European City ) we have dinner at Casa Calvet , the interior is stunning!!!!! no other word for it and the food is excellent as is the service.We have never been let down when booking and it is like stepping back into a bygone era, the fittings , light fittings ,tiles are all fabulous ,don't forget to take a camera to record the beautiful interior. I would go just to sit and admire the room and the fittings but the added bonus is you can also enjoy great food and wine at the same time.
If in Barcelona do not miss the experience.

Sarò lieta di ottemperare alla vostra richiesta di commentare.
Poiché frequento un istituto turistico molti sono i compiti assegnati nei quali ci è richiesto di effettuare ITINERARI, brochure e ricerche varie che necessitano della ricerca in Internet. Una volta trovato quello che ci serve sarebbe troppo lungo ricopiare tutto quindi, opzione fornita teoricamente dal computer (tengo a precisare), "clicchiamo col mouse" felici e contenti col pensiero di sottolineare quello di cui necessitiamo e, successivamente fare "copia-incolla".. peccato che il vosto sito non disponga di questa "possibilità", se voglio sottolineare qualcosa devo predere tutto, oppure fà prima, non sottolinea niente.. portandomi così a dover cercare altre informazioni, aprire altri siti quando, tutto quello che mi serve, è qui a portata di mano.. ditemi voi se è possibile? In questo caso è una sciocchezza ma ditemi se è giusto? Non è la prima volta che succede e questo porta ad un gran spreco di tempo.. cosa, penso, anche per voi molto importante! Spero che possiate fare qualcosa per risolvere questo problema. Ossequi, Ale

incredible building with a great restaurant (expensive but to try)... go there..
