It was inaugurated on the 14th of December 1947. The first match played in the stadium was Real Madrid against OS Belenenses, on the same day of the opening.The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium has been rehabilitated in 4 occasions: in 1954, 1982, 1993 and 2003.

The current capacity of the Stadium is of 80,000 numbered seats. The dimensions of the ground are 106x70 m.
